Celebrate Nebraska’s bird month with all kinds of activities [Video]

May is Bird Month in Nebraska. The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and partner organizations celebrate with a variety of activities across the state throughout the month.

A yellow-headed blackbird sings among the rushes at a private pond southwest of Hay Springs in Sheridan County. The Game and Parks is offering several birding activities in May.

This year’s theme is Protect Insects, Protect Birds, the Game and Parks said in a release, because insects are an essential source of energy for birds during their migration journey.
