CenterPoint Energy crews prepare for severe weather | News [Video]

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WEVV) — CenterPoint Energy linemen are on standby as they wait to know if they’ll be working in the overnight hours and even longer.

The April 2nd tornadoes and storms left hundreds across Kentucky and Indiana with damage to their homes, businesses, and left thousands without power.

In southwestern Indiana there were 24,000 outages.

As those families continue to recover, the region can now expect another line of storms expected to produce strong winds, possible tornadoes, and a stronger chance for more power outages.

As our storm team 44 meteorologists have explained, the Tri-State has experienced heavy rain fall throughout the week. The ground is saturated, which would make it easier for trees to be uprooted and knock powerlines down.

Noah Stubbs, the lead communications specialist for CenterPoint, says, “A few of those linemen will breakoff a little bit early, get some rest, and prepare for whatever comes tonight.”
