Officials say the Chaplain Basic Officer Leader Course student collapsed during the morning physical training run on Monday and was later pronounced dead at the hospital.
Officials confirmed the student was a National Guardsman.
The U.S. Army Institute for Religious Leadership (USA-IRL) at Fort Jackson calls itself the “heart and home” of the U.S. Army Chaplain Corps. “Ourr mission is to generate and develop Area of Concentration (AOC)/Career Management Field (CMF) 56 Soldiers and capabilities to provide religious support and advisement across the full range of military operations to the total force,” the institute says on its website.
