Tonya McGee, who has spent nearly two decades trying to prove she’s alive, has made progress in proving she’s alive to the government.

CHICO, Calif. – We have new developments on the Chico woman who, for years, has been trying to prove to the U.S. government she’s not dead.

As you may recall, Chico local Tonya McGee has been trying to prove she’s alive for almost two decades. She has been trying to remove death indicators from national databases of credit unions, banks, and other services.

The last time Action News reporter Margot Rowe spoke with her, she was reaching out to Congress for help, and she got a response back.

Last year, Tonya McGee was reaching out to Congressman Doug LaMalfa’s office for help to remove death indicators from national databases. She says LaMalfa’s office connected her with a case manager.
