Child Protect speaks on House Bill 81 [Video]

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WSFA) – A new bill could eliminate sex offenders’ ability to receive a pardon or parole.

The bill passed unanimously in the house and is on its way to the senate.

When a child faces sexual or physical abuse in Montgomery County officials connect them with Child Protect.

“When a child initially goes through a trauma, and they are a victim of any type of abuse, but also if they are witnesses to violence crimes, we are here to provide a forensic interview,” said Executive Director of Child Protect Kristen Roy.

Those interviews help agencies like the District Attorney, the Montgomery Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office, and the Department of Human Resources conduct their investigations.

Roy says this bill would ensure justice will be served for good.
