In a joint special meeting, both voted unanimously. There will be a second hearing May 7. If approved, the changes will take effect June 1, 2025.
SAN ANGELO, Texas — Tuesday morning, San Angelo’s City Council and Planning Commission voted unanimously to amend two existing City ordinances related to short term rentals and beds and breakfasts.
In a presentation to the City Council, Planning & Development Services Director Aaron Vannoy laid out three options for regulating both. The first, he said, would call for an outright ban on short-term rentals. The second would significantly loosen regulations.
Vannoy presented the third option as a balance of both. Planning Commission Chair Travis Stribling views the option Vannoy detailed in his presentation as a happy medium.
“Option three – an ordinance – is essentially a compromise,” Stribling said. “(It’s) a meet in the middle between those two viewpoints.”
