Clear Lake Police Department is the first agency in its region to display the 988 suicide & crisis lifeline number on its marked patrol cars.

CLEAR LAKE, Iowa – There’s something new on police cars in Clear Lake.

Most law enforcement vehicles in the United States have displayed 911 somewhere on their vehicles to remind the public how to reach help in case of emergencies.  The Clear Lake Police Department says it is now the first agency in the North Iowa region to display the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline number on all its marked patrol cars.

Anyone can contact 988 by calling, or texting to access a trained crisis counselor day or night who can help people experiencing suicidal, substance use, and/or mental health crisis, or any other kind of emotional distress.  You may also contact 988 if you know of someone that may need assistance with a crisis.
