CLEVELAND, Ohio – City Hall is preparing to sell off two parcels in the Hough neighborhood to enable a four-story housing project that will offer what the city council president described as an “unheard of” share of units that are affordable to low-income Clevelanders.
The planned 61,000-square-foot “Gordon Crossing” project at Woodward Avenue and East 101st Street, located on the doorstep of University Circle’s employment hub, received high praise Tuesday from city officials and members of City Council’s development committee.
Spearheaded by Frontline Development Group and Woda Cooper Development, the project, slated to begin construction this summer, was described by Council President Blaine Griffin as a “unicorn” for its affordability.
Out of 54 units, only eight will be market-rate. The vast majority – 46 – will be priced as affordable for Clevelanders earning 70% or less of area median income (AMI). And 16 of those affordable units will be priced …
