BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) – On April 1, Warren Rural Electric Cooperative Corporation announced a local rate increase for residents and some commercial and industrial members. There will be a $3 increase in their monthly distribution charge and a fraction of a cent increase in the energy charge per kilowatt-hour.
They state this averages about a 2.1% increase overall on residents’ bills.
For those struggling financially, there are local programs that strive to help combat these situations. One of those is Community Action of Southern Kentucky’s LIHEAP program. It stands for their Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program.
In the past, Program Manager for the community services department, Bernadette Tardy, has seen how impactful these programs can be, even if just a small help.
