(COLORADO SPRINGS) — On Thursday, May 2 the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD) held the graduation of its 77th police officer class.
CSPD said the 77th class had 31 graduates who went through 27 weeks of intensive hands-on training, testing, and more. According to CSPD, the graduates come from 12 different states, four different countries and more than half have or currently serve in the armed forces.
“That continuous hiring process is absolutely working. The numbers are really starting to increase. I think we’re going to be at or above our authorized strength in our next academy but certainly by the end of this year,” said CSPD chief Adrian Vasquez.
The new officers will spend 15 weeks in field training before they respond to calls on their own.
