DAVIESS COUNTY, Ky. (WEVV) — Hispanics make up the largest minority population in Daviess County Public Schools, and now the district is creating a network for Hispanic students and parents.
Abraham Jimenez, a freshman at Daviess County High School, says, “Everybody’s a group. We’re all friends, we’re all family, and this group helps us understand that we can all be nice and kind for each other.”
It’s called Juntos, meaning together.
The national program helps high schoolers discuss important educational topics like post secondary education and creates a network for students.
They also eliminate the language barrier for parents by holding Spanish meetings throughout the year to discuss high school and college information.
The group discusses topics from financing education, family and school communication, and requirements for colleges and careers.
