Despite decades of study, access to decent healthcare remains a serious barrier for many individuals, particularly in communities of color and among the elderly.
According to the Office of Minority Health, African Americans die from heart disease at a 30% higher rate than non-Hispanic whites in 2019.
Hispanic adults are 70 percent more likely than non-Hispanic white individuals to be diagnosed with diabetes by a medical professional.
In 2019, tuberculosis was 33 times more frequent among Asians, with an incidence rate of 16.7 compared to 0.5 for the non-Hispanic white population.
