DMV kids compete in Future City Competition [Video]

Have you ever wondered what the world might look like in 100 years? Students who competed in the Future City Competition may have given us a glimpse. 

On Tuesday, middle school students from across the United States and China came together to showcase their vision of a “Future City” in our nation’s capital. 

The annual Future City Competition gives students one unique challenge with three objectives; build a model of a city 100 years in the future that only runs on renewable energy, write an essay about it, and give a presentation to a group of engineers. 

“The impact this type of a program can give any student, whether they want to go into an engineering field or not, it’s giving them skill sets to help them wherever they choose to go in their career,” said Susan Hoopes, the director of operations with the Future City Competition.
