Donald S. Croston

Donald S. Croston, Colonel, USAF (Ret), age 90, formerly of Sioux City, was born July 25, 1933 in San Diego, California to Louis H. and Hazel A. (Surber) Croston. He was raised in Sioux City, graduating from East High in 1951, and Morningside College in 1956. After graduation, he was employed by Dun and Bradstreet.
He entered the Naval Reserve in 1951 during the Korean War, and in 1957 entered the United States Air Force Aviation Cadet Program to train as a pilot. On Dec. 20, 1958 after receiving his pilot wings and Second Lieutenant commission; and, thereby fulfilling a lifelong dream he had since a young boy (8-12 years old during WWII), he married Judith K. Larsen in Sioux City, Iowa. The family lived in Texas, Georgia, California, Washington State, Oklahoma, Michigan and Nebraska.
