WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) – On Tuesday night central Wisconsin saw two new mayors get elected into office with Wisconsin Rapids electing Matt Zacher to the vacant seat and Wausau voting in Doug Diny.

Election night left some people excited for a new beginning while others were left questioning what happened. UWSP Political Science Professor Ed Miller says he predicted Mayor Katie Rosenberg would win based on what he saw in the February Primary, but Tuesday night taught us not to assume.

Miller explained that one of the reasons why things may have gone differently is because of an issue Doug Diny has been pressing on and that a lot can agree with.

“I don’t know what the issue was because we don’t have a survey, but my guess is that one of the issues may be the cost of the PFAS removal,” Miller said. “That’s been a big argument in …
