Energy assistance available for low-income older adults in Jefferson Parish [Video]

KENNER, La. (WGNO) — Older adults in Jefferson Parish have the chance to access utility assistance through an outreach event in Kenner.

On Thursday, April 18, the Jefferson Community Action Program Department (JeffCAP) is hosting a Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LiHEAP) at the Kenner Senior Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Program officials said the event is designed to provide eligible residents with utility assistance through the LiHEAP-Cooling funding allocation.

The event is limited to 125 clients.

“Please note, a household cannot have previously received a LiHEAP-Cooling during this allocation period,” said program officials.

Residents looking of assistance must have copies of all needed documents in order to process their application or it will not be processed, according to program officials.

Attendees must have the following documentation:

  • Current Louisiana Driver’s License, Louisiana State Picture I.D. or Passport for all household members over 18 years
  • Social Security Cards for all household members
