Erie City Council Meetings to be Held in Community Centers – Erie News Now [Video]

By a vote of 7-0, Erie City Councilmembers passing a resolution put forward by Councilman Chuck Nelson to have Council meetings in June, July and August held in different community centers around the city.

On June 19th, the Booker T. Washington Center will welcome City Councilmembers to their facility and the kids at the Center are excited to be a part of it.

Executive Director of the Booker T. Washington Center, Shantel Hilliard said bringing the meetings into the community and having the kids be able to see the members doing their jobs will benefit the younger generation.

“It gives the kids an opportunity to learn about what is going on in the city, who is making policies and procedures throughout, how it is affecting them, affecting our center, affecting funding opportunities and the opportunities that they have by coming here,” Hilliard said.
