Closing sales are set to begin Tuesday at the nearly 100 Express stores that will be shuttering.

WASHINGTON — Fashion retailer Express filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy on Monday and intends to rapidly close 95 of its more than 500 stores, along with all 10 of its UpWest locations. 

Closing sales at these locations are set to begin Tuesday. Beyond these closures, Express said that it “expects to conduct business as usual.”

The Columbus, Ohio-based company said it received an offer from a group led by WHP Global for the sale of most of its retail stores and operations. WHP Global owns Toys “R” Us, along with fashion labels such as Anne Klein and Joseph Abboud. The consortium exploring the deal also includes mall operators Simon Property Group and Brookfield Properties, Express said. 

The company says it will continue to serve customers at its stores and online across its Express, Bonobos and UpWest brands.
