BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) – Sheetz has been sued by the federal officials alleging that the company is discriminating against minority job applicants.

The suit alleges that Sheetz discriminated against black, native American, and multiracial job seekers by automatically eliminating applicants who the company believes failed a background check.

The Federal Government alleges that the practice has a disproportionate impact on minority applicants, and thus breaches civil rights laws.

On their part, Sheetz says that they do not tolerate discrimination.

Sheetz also says that they have been working with officials for years to find common ground for this dispute, but the lawsuit alleges that Sheetz was notified that they were likely violating civil rights law in 2022, and a settlement has not been reached, hence the federal lawsuit now.
