MERIDIAN, Miss. (WTOK) – Happy Monday! The Great American Eclipse will happen today, but overcast skies will most likely block the view. Already starting the morning with cloud cover ahead of this afternoon’s rain. We are hoping for breaks in the clouds before the rain picks up. We are not in the path of totality, but 86% of the eclipse can be viewed if the clouds allow it. Partial eclipse will begin around 12:36pm, maximum eclipse is at 1:55pm, and the eclipse will end at 3:13pm. Have your eclipse glasses handy just in case.

First Alert: Severe storm are knocking at our door

A level 1 marginal risk for severe weather is over most counties in our viewing area. It is one of the lowest risk zones for severe weather, but a brief tornado CANNOT be ruled out. Know your safety plan and have ways to receive weather alerts through much of the week.
