FirstEnergy customers will see rates decrease in summer [Video]

TOLEDO, Ohio — Some FirstEnergy customers could see a big drop in rates this summer.

FirstEnergy’s Ohio companies hosted two power auctions, one in February and another in March. The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio accepted the auction results, allowing the electric supplier to pay about 27% less for the electricity they deliver to customers this year. It will start June 1.

The power company said standard service offer customers should remember their bills are broken into two parts: delivery and supply. 

FirstEnergy is responsible for the delivery of electricity, it does not generate the electricity powering your homes and businesses, that is an energy supplier. Customers can shop for their energy supplier but if you don’t shop for one, you’re charged a default energy supply rate which FirstEnergy negotiates.
