ELKINS, WV (WOAY) – The Monongahela National Forest is looking for West Virginians to serve on the West Virginia Resource Advisory Committee.

Those members will help the Forest Service determine how to award funds from the Secure Rural Schools and Community Self Determination Act.

The forest service needs 5 people from three specific categories, with a total of 15 people serving.

The first category focuses on local business leaders. They need people from organized labor, experts in outdoor recreation, energy and mineral development, fishing, logging, and grazing.

The second category is made up of people who are involved in environmental work.

The third category is made up of elected officials.

The committee will review project proposals and determine where to spend money.
