(The Hill) — A former National Security Agency worker was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison after he was charged with selling classified information to a Russian official, the Department of Justice announced Monday.

Jareh Sebastian Dalke, 32, of Colorado Springs, was sentenced to 262 months in prison on Monday after he pleaded guilty to six counts of attempting to share classified national defense information with an agent with the Russian Federation, federal prosecutors said.

Dalke worked as an information systems security designer for the NSA in 2022 and told prosecutors that between August and September of that year, he used an encrypted email account to give excerpts from three classified documents to an individual he thought was a Russian agent. The person was an undercover FBI employee, the DOJ said.

The documents that included the excerpts were classified as “top secret/sensitive compartmented information,” prosecutors added.
