They are 1-7 in semifinals games since their last national title in 1998 but are hoping this year brings better fortune. Unlike the previous two seasons when Michigan was a favorite heading into the NCAA Tournament, it is the only non-No. 1 seed remaining in this year’s field, which features the nation’s top four scoring offenses with the University of Denver, Boston College, Michigan and Boston University.

But the Wolverines don’t feel like an underdog, and Wednesday’s lively practice and ensuing news conference indicated as such.

“I think it’s kind of cool when people doubt you in a way because adversity breeds champions,” said defenseman Marshall Warren, a graduate transfer from BC. “We’ve been through a little adversity all year. It’s cool just proving people wrong, and I think we’re going to keep doing that.”
