Grant given to make telehealth easily accessible in rural Alabama [Video]

MIDLAND CITY, Ala. (WTVY) – Telehealth is becoming more accessible in Alabama thanks to the USDA, all with the goal to give people in rural areas quicker access to doctors.

Dr. Esiri Esin is a psychiatrist with SpectraCare Health Systems.

Day to day, he treats a wide range of mental health and alcohol and drug disorders.

For him, telehealth makes it easier and quicker to connect with those who need care.

”Someone in Barbour County, for example, who wants to see us right away, we can reach them through telehealth services, even though we can’t travel there right away. Like, if they tried a suicide attempt, we can see them almost immediately,” Dr. Esin said.

Dr. Esin’s advice is to lean on your family in hard times and not be afraid to call for help.
