Harrison County Board of Education hosts annual Student Achievement Ceremony [Video]

CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (WBOY) — The Harrison County Board of Education held its Student Achievement Ceremony at Liberty High School on Sunday to recognize and celebrate 51 students for their academic achievements.

The ceremony began with a welcoming from Master of Ceremonies Michael Moore who proceeded with introductions and remarks from the chairman of Harrison County Student Achievement Board, Robert Greer and Harrison County Board of Education superintendent Dora Stutler. During the event, students received scholarships starting at $500 from local community organizations, businesses and personal donors.

For this year’s ceremony, the keynote speaker was Bridgeport alumni and executive producer, founder and host of the series Fly Rod Chronicles, Curtis Fleming.

Robert Greer spoke about the importance of hosting this event for Harrison County students.

“As these kids leave Harrison County, we want them to remember that Harrison County is with them and supporting them in their future endeavors,” Greer said. “Hopefully there are a few that graduate, go away and come back.”
