Madison City Schools confirmed a seventh-grader died after a medical emergency on Tuesday.

Liberty Middle School’s principal, Shannon D. Brown, confirmed the student’s name is Morgan Williams. Brown released a statement to students and their families Wednesday afternoon. It reads in part:

“This loss has and will raise many emotions, concerns, and questions for our entire school, especially our students,” Brown said in the statement. “We are saddened by this loss to our school community and will make every effort to help you and your child as needed. Please keep the Williams family in your thoughts.”
