High schools to march in Downtown Nashville against bill allowing teachers to carry guns [Video]

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) – High schoolers across Nashville will march in opposition to the most recent bill about arming teachers.

During the march, students will urge legislators to continue holding the bill on the desk in the House.

The students will begin marching to the Capitol from the park across from the Downtown Nashville Public Library at 10 a.m. on Monday.

Once the students arrive at the Capitol, they and supporters of their cause will speak out.

The bill in question, HB 1202, would allow teachers to carry a concealed gun on campus and on school property.

The bill passed the Senate floor on Tuesday with 26 votes for and five against. On Thursday, the bill was held on the House’s desk.

If passed, the bill would allow school staff members to carry a concealed gun upon completing training, background checks, and a psychological evaluation. Substitute teachers and part-time employees …
