HENDRICKS COUNTY, Ind. — Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has asked that flags be flown at half-staff on Sunday to honor fallen Hendricks County Sheriff’s Deputy Fred Fislar.

According to a press release, flags will be flown at half-staff from sunrise to sunset in Hendricks and Putnam counties. Holcomb has also asked businesses and residents in both counties to lower their flags.

Fislar died while he was responding to a single-vehicle crash near County Road 300 S and State Road 267 earlier this week. Law enforcement reported that the crash involved a vehicle that hit a utility pole.

The crash left low-hanging electrical wires in the area. The sheriff’s office indicated that Fislar came into contact with those wires.

Visitation and funeral services for Fislar will be held at Cloverdale High School on Sunday at 3 p.m. Fislar was well-known in area and a three-sport athlete at Cloverdale High School.
