INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana University men’s basketball team has nabbed another player from the transfer portal.

Stanford guard Kanaan Carlyle announced his commitment to IU on Saturday via his Instagram. Carlyle earned an All-Pac-12 honorable mention in 2023-24.

The Atlanta native appeared in 23 games at Stanford last season, starting in 16 of those contests. He averaged 11.5 points, 2.69 assists and 2.65 rebounds per game.

The Hoosiers have now earned commitments from three high-profile former Pac-12 players this offseason. Arizona’s Oumar Ballo and Washington State’s Myles Rice both committed to IU earlier this month.

Ballo was one of the top available players in the transfer portal, and Rice is the reigning Pac-12 Freshman of the Year.

The trio joins an Indiana squad that missed the NCAA Tournament in 2023-24. The Hoosiers went 19-14 overall and 10-10 in conference play last season.

Carlyle’s Stanford squad went 14-18 overall and 8-12 in Pac-12 play. Rice and Ballo’s teams both made the big dance last year.
