The Spencer County police officer reportedly required medical attention after the bite.

DUBOIS COUNTY, Ind. — A southern Indiana woman was arrested Wednesday after she reported drove the wrong way on an interstate and bit an officer during the arrest.

Late Wednesday night, the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office received a call reporting a wrong-way driver on I-64, according to an Indiana State Police news release. 

Officers found the vehicle near the 71-mile marker, traveling west in the eastbound lanes and were able to successfully deploy stop-sticks to bring the vehicle to a stop.

Deputies with the Spencer County Sheriff’s Office made contact with the vehicle. The driver, 33-year-old Lauren Jones of Corydon, Ind., was reportedly “uncooperative and combative” during the arrest and bit an officer.

The officer who was bitten, Trooper Leah Schnell, required medical attention, according to the news release.
