PETERBORO, N.Y. — Just beyond the Oneida County line is the National Abolition Hall of Fame and Museum.
This month, the museum has been busy with tours for student groups to commemorate Black History Month.
Students from Madison-Oneida BOCES discovered the Underground Railroad’s ties to our area during a recent tour.
An abolitionist, born in Utica, educated at Hamilton College in Clinton, and a landowner across the state, is prominently featured in the local Hall of Fame. His estate in Peterboro is even listed as a National Historic Landmark.
