JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – This week, Chief Charles Hanley was officially put on administrative leave. A third-party investigation into alleged complaints of harassment, bullying, union contract violations and more is currently underway.
“(There are) a bunch of complaints of harassment of different types,” said Brady Graham, the IAFF Local 2596 Union President. “Anything from sexual harassment to just general workplace bullying. Some of these allegations involve the fire chief himself.”
Graham said this investigation has been a long time coming. He told NewsWatch 12 that morale at the fire station is low, but it feels good to know that their concerns are finally being addressed.
When it comes to the end result of the investigation, Graham said the union doesn’t have any specific hopes. He said his main goal is protecting his team.
