MEMPHIS, Tenn. (WMC) – Americans are a nation of procrastinators, and our tax returns prove it. An estimated one-third of Americans wait until the last minute to do their taxes.
U.S. taxpayers on average spend $150 and nine hours of their time filing taxes. A new program from the IRS is helping.
This year, the IRS launched Direct File in 12 states, including Tennessee, allowing taxpayers to file their tax returns for free directly through the IRS.
