Robert A. Vicena, 37, of Fort Wayne was shot and killed after an alleged knife attack on two officers who were attempting to arrest him.
NEW HAVEN, Ind. — Indiana State Police is taking over investigations into a deadly officer-involved shooting near Fort Wayne Saturday.
According to a release from ISP, shortly after 11 p.m. on April 27, officers from the New Haven Police Department were dispatched to a report of domestic battery in the 6000 block of Moeller Road, which is listed as a mobile home park on the southeast side of Fort Wayne in the town of New Haven.
Police said that when officers entered the residence and attempted to take a 37-year-old Robert A. Vicena into custody, an “altercation” occurred in which two officers were injured by a knife attack.
One of the officers allegedly fired a shot at the man, killing him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
