Job Point to undergo renovations | Mid-Missouri News [Video]

Job Point, an employment center and community development cooperation, has been granted a time extension to use federal funding for its renovation plans. 

The extension came due to the length of time it took for an environmental review and submission process with the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, which distributed the funding, according to a Columbia City Council memo.

The new conclusion date of the project has been moved from April 30, to July 31.

Job Point President and CEO Steve Smith said the allocated funding will help make the facility “safer, more energy efficient and nicer” for the people the organization serves. 

One main priority of the renovation is fixing the flooring, allowing more accessibility for everyone who comes inside the facility. The flooring is over 30 years old and has become worn down, Smith said.
