Kansas is currently experiencing a push to increase the production of films and TV shows, with state lawmakers considering a new tax credit for filmmakers.”We really want to have a focus on local TV productions, local film productions,” Filmmaker Justin Begnaud told KMBC on Tuesday.Begnaud is hopeful that Kansas will pass a film tax credit bill during the state legislature’s next session.”I believe the last count, there were 35 states that have a tax incentive. Every state around the state of Kansas has an incentive,” Begnaud said.According to Begnaud, the absence of such a credit in Kansas is the primary reason many producers do not consider shooting their projects in the state.He noted that while a number of movies have been at least partially shot in Kansas, the number is low compared to most states.”There really isn’t anything special about Georgia and that’s a $10 billion industry in Georgia,” Begnaud …
