It’s been a few days since the news broke that South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem had released a book that included the harrowing tale of the time she shot her dog, Cricket, as well as a goat after Cricket angered her.
Noem presented the story as one of her own hardship and strength, as the tale of her willingness to handle difficult situations. No one else, however, saw it that way. The public reaction has been overwhelmingly one of disgust (unsurprisingly to everyone except perhaps Noem herself.)
