AURORA, Mo. (KY3) — A trip to Lawrence County on Thursday, March 14, marked the first stop on KY3′s Spring Weather Tour. The station’s meteorologists and on-air staff came to Aurora High School to present a fun weather class and participate in giveaways, along with the local fire department and law enforcement.
In the late 1800s, Aurora enjoyed tremendous growth as a mining town after Galena ore was discovered on a farm there.
Agriculture has also been essential to the area. The first major industry to come to town was Majestic Milling in August 1905, when the company grew to become one of the largest feed mills in the world.
Today, as you look down the railroad tracks next to the downtown square, you’ll notice feed mills continuing to dot the landscape, including those owned by MFA, Tyson, and, yes, a new farmer-owned Majestic Milling Company that sits in the …
