Laird Veatch joins Mizzou as athletic direcotr | Mizzou Xtra [Video]

Officials from the University of Missouri introduced new director of athletics Laird Veatch during a news conference Friday. 

Veatch officially starts his role May 1 after five years at the University of Memphis in the same position. 

Veatch was joined by his wife Brandy and their four children, as well as President Mun Choi, interim athletic director Marcy Girton, Board of Curators chair Robin Wenneker, and voice of the Tigers Mike Kelly at the Stephens Indoor Facility Friday afternoon. 

Veatch is a long-time college athletics administrator who began his career at Missouri in the late 1990s and early 2000s. He also spent time at Mizzou Sports Properties and Learfield Sports in Missouri. 

“I know how cliche this is, but it is a dream come true,” Veatch said. “Thank you for making my dreams come true.”

The Kansas State alum made it clear that he is at MU to stay.
