Learning trade skills: Spearfish HS new Career and Technical Education Center | News [Video]

SPEARFISH, S.D. – Construction has concluded on the Career and Technical Education Center at Spearfish High School, with the public getting a chance to tour the new facility over the weekend.

Spearfish School District initiated the project to provide students with opportunities to explore various career paths. The center offers classes in welding, auto mechanics, business education, health sciences and more – aiming to meet the demand for skilled trade professionals in the community.

Kirk Easton, Superintendent of Spearfish School District, explaining, “It really came from the community saying that we needed more skilled trade people in our community. And again, medical, the need for nurses and doctors. So, it was stemmed from that, [it] also stems from our students saying, ‘Hey, we want more classes, we want more options.’”
