Local farmers predict bountiful harvests following rainfall [Video]

WICHITA FALLS, Texas (KAUZ) – In the heart of agricultural territory, local farmers are feeling hopeful as recent rainfall promises a potentially abundant yield.

Dwayne Peirce, a seasoned farmer in the area said the wheat crop is nearing its final stages before harvesting. He also recently planted his corn crop and remains optimistic about the upcoming cotton planting season.

“Cotton is one of the craziest crops that one timely rain can make more yield,” Peirce explained.

Recounting a previous experience, he emphasized the resilience of cotton to adverse conditions, citing a year with minimal rainfall where the crop still yielded impressively due to one timely rain. Peirce said last year’s yields were disappointing, with the corn crop suffering a complete loss due to summer drought.

“The past two years have been really difficult,” Peirce said.
