Local roller skating rink celebrates 50 years in business | News [Video]

REDDING, Calif. – A local roller skating rink is celebrating its 50th anniversary of being in business, and people of all ages continue rolling in for all the fun. 

Former senator and veteran Maurice Johannessen and his wife own Viking Skate Country. 

Hannah Whittener is a supervisor at Viking Skate Country and has worked there for about eight years. She said they were hit pretty hard during the pandemic – but business bounced back. 

“So how does it feel celebrating 50 years of Viking Skate Country being here in Redding?” Action News Now reporter Taylor Helmes asked Whittener.

“I think it’s awesome, especially after COVID, I’m glad that we were able to arise from that and we’ve actually been busier since after COVID, prior, before that,” …
