ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. (WFTV) – In Orange County, Florida, Monday, detectives arrested a man the sheriff called a potential serial killer.
The 24-year-old allegedly confessed to killing two sex workers within about a month.
Carlos Baez-Nieves grimaced Monday as an Orange County judge read his murder charges aloud for the first time. He was charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
“He targeted women who he clearly thought would not be missed,” Orange County Sheriff John Mina said.
Mina said Baez-Nieves admitted to killing 41-year-old Fatia Flowers and 44-year-old Nichole Daniels.
According to an arrest report, Baez-Nieves first picked up Flowers in March. He agreed to pay her $40 for sex, then strangled her and dumped her body.
Deputies said Baez-Nieves picked up Nichole Daniels 35 days later, brought her to his home for sex and strangled her.
