Medical cannabis company asks court to give license, overrule Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission [Video]

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (WBRC) – The Alabama Medical Cannabis Commission (AMCC) is facing new potential legal problems because one of the companies who applied for a license, but was denied, is now asking a Montgomery court to reverse the AMCC’s decisions.

In the filing made Monday afternoon, April 15, Alabama Always says the Commission didn’t follow multiple state laws in the latest of its three attempts to hand out licenses to grow and sell medical marijuana.

This new push would ask a judge to not just stop the commission from handing out the licenses it granted back in December, but go so far as to force the AMCC to give Alabama Always a license.

All of this comes as the state senate is considering a bill that would strip some power from the Commission.
