The Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces Department is looking into a recent inspection report that documented several alarming issues at the Miami Seaquarium.
According to the report, a dolphin was found with a nail in its throat, another dolphin was found with a broken bolt in its mouth and a sealion was refusing to eat amid painful cataracts. And these were only some of the issues.
The report prepared last month by the United States Department of Agriculture’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service details the conditions found at the Seaquarium during a routine inspection on Oct. 16.
The county responded to NBC6’s request for comment on the findings and a spokesperson said they are “currently in the process of reviewing the report, and as such, we are still analyzing the details of the recent findings.”
