TAMPA, Fla. — You might hear explosions, simulated gunfire and helicopters if you are near the Tampa Convention Center on Wednesday.
The U.S. Special Operations Command is hosting a military showcase from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday and will also have a rehearsal Tuesday at noon, according to a news release.
The public is encouraged to attend and watch this “rare display of military-tactical-might.” The event called “Battle of the Bay” is part of the Special Operations Forces Week annual conference with more than 170 service members taking part in a mock scenario defending Tampa from invaders.
Helicopters, boats, drones, ATV’s, scuba divers are a few of the things people will see during the demonstration.
“This is as close to a real-life mission as it gets!” the release read.
