The U.S. Supreme Court denied two appeals on behalf of Missouri inmate Brian Dorsey, clearing the way for his scheduled execution Tuesday night for the 2006 slayings of his cousin and her husband.Both appeals were turned aside without comment. One cited Dorsey’s record of good behavior since his incarceration and said he should not be put to death because he has been rehabilitated.The other appeal said his life should be spared because his trial lawyers had a conflict of interest. The pair of public defenders were paid a $12,000 flat fee that provided them with no incentive to invest time in his case, the appeal said.
