Mobile Sports Authority working through logistics for several events ahead of Civic Center closure [Video]

MOBILE, Ala. (WALA) -Just about every week, there’s a new sporting event here in Mobile. Just last week the city hosted the USA Gymnastics Trampoline and Tumbling Region 5 Championship which the Mobile Sports Authority says is one of its biggest events of the year.

“We estimate last year for the 2023 event a $1.3 million economic impact for our city and county, and we expect about the same if not a little bit more this year,” said Danny Corte with Mobile Sports Authority.

It’s the 5th year this championship was held at the Mobile Civic Center which has been a win for the city and the event itself.

“I personally love it. The atmosphere is great, Mobile is a very friendly town,” said Dmitri Poliaroush, USA Gymnastics Region 5 Regional Director.

With the Civic Center set to be torn down in August to make way for a new arena. This event …
