Mon Power celebrates Earth Day with a tree giveaway [Video]

PARKERSBURG, W.Va. (WTAP) – Many people celebrate Earth Day by finding an activity or event to do while making the Earth better.

Picking up trash from the streets, conserve energy, cut down on single use plastics and a ton of other ways to make the Earth a better place to live.

On Monday Mon Power held a tree giveaway to all who came out and had interest in planting a tree.

Magnolia, Flowering Dogwood, arrowwood and many other trees and shrubs were given to a new home.

According to Mon Power, over 300 trees were given out to the benefit of everyone.

“It’s extremely important to continue to plant trees in our communities because they provide a lot of benefits. Not just in shade and cleaning our air but they also help with erosion control so it is important to plant them on a regular basis,” said Supervisor, Carol Trembly.
